Management review
Changed in ISO 9001:2026
Eight inputs: a new one on changes in interested-party needs and expectations, and risks and opportunities evaluated as two separate verdicts; the outputs are renamed 'results', with unchanged content.
Checked against the published text on 27 September 2026.
Plain-language summary
The steering meeting keeps its 2015 shape — top management, planned intervals, continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and alignment with strategic direction — but the published text changes what flows in and what it is called. The input list grows from six to eight: changes in the needs and expectations of interested parties becomes a new, explicit input alongside changes in external and internal issues, and the effectiveness of actions on risks and on opportunities are now two separate inputs, each pointing back to the restructured 6.1. The outputs are retitled 'results' (9.3.3) with the same content: decisions on improvement opportunities, on changes to the QMS and on resource needs.
What the clause is really asking
Whether the review actually weighs the new inputs — has anything changed in what customers, regulators, lenders or neighbours expect of you, and did the opportunity half of 6.1 deliver — rather than filing them as sub-headings under a data dump.
What auditors look for
The minutes against the eight inputs, with the interested-parties item and the opportunity item answered specifically; decisions with owners and dates; evidence that the previous review's actions closed.
Typical evidence
Management review minutes, or a distributed set of meeting records that together cover every input; the action log; the interested-parties register showing which changes were reviewed.
How to comply — recommendations
Rebuild the agenda template around the eight inputs; feed it from the interested-parties register, the risk and opportunity records and the 6.3 change reviews; record decisions as decisions, and call the section 'results' when you next revise the template.
Common nonconformities
Inputs covered by a single slide with no interested-parties or opportunity content; Minutes with no decisions, owners or dates; Risk and opportunity effectiveness reported as one blended line; Review held, but the previous review's actions never closed
