The four steps of a card
Raise it at the machine
Production taps the machine on the board, says what happened, done. The time defaults to now; an honest earlier time takes one more tap.
Start work
The technician taps Start — the repair clock starts and their name goes on the card. Colleagues can be pulled in. Workers without a phone are logged by the team.
Finish with the engineering report
Issue type plus what was found and what was done. That text becomes the plant's memory of what actually goes wrong with each machine.
Production confirms
Only when production confirms the machine is running does the card close and the machine go green. A repair that didn't work never closes.

Your machines, your issue types

Team roster and roles

Nothing bypasses the workflow
Start, finish, confirm and cancel are enforced in the database, not the screen. Corrections are allowed (honest backdating beats fiction) and every one is logged.

Who it's for
A maintenance manager with a handful of technicians and twenty to a couple of hundred machines, who is still reconciling paper cards into a weekly spreadsheet. Automotive tier suppliers, packaging, food processing, foam and plastics, metalwork — anywhere production stops when a machine does.
It is deliberately not a full CMMS. No purchase orders, no parts inventory, no work-order approvals — those are the reasons big systems go unused on the floor. Spare-parts logging, photos and recurring planned-maintenance schedules are on the roadmap.
How the KPIs are defined
- MTTR — mean (work ended − work started) over completed breakdown cards.
- Mean response time — mean (work started − breakdown occurred).
- Total downtime — Σ (work ended − breakdown occurred).
- MTBF — (scheduled machine-hours in the period − downtime) ÷ number of breakdowns, using the hours per day and days per week you set.
- Availability — 1 − downtime ÷ scheduled machine-hours.
Breakdown cards only. Planned maintenance and tool changes are counted but never pollute the breakdown KPIs.
