Awareness — what changed from 2015 to 2026

The 2015 core carries over: people doing work under your control must be aware of the quality policy, the objectives relevant to them, their own contribution, and what it means when requirements are not followed. The 2026 edition extends awareness to the quality-culture and ethical-behaviour expectations now placed on leadership in 5.1.1 — so the culture thread runs through the whole workforce, not just the top table. Leadership promising an open, ethical quality culture that the shop floor has never heard of is exactly the gap this closes.
ISO 9001:2015 said
Awareness of the policy, relevant objectives, own contribution, and implications of nonconformity.
ISO 9001:2026 says
Extended to the quality-culture and ethical-behaviour expectations of 5.1.1 — the culture requirement reaches the whole workforce.
What to actually do
Add culture/conduct to induction and toolbox talks; test yourself with the same floor interviews an auditor will run.
