6S & Visual Management
6S extends the classic five-step workplace organisation method with Safety, and this module walks through all six steps in the order you run them: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain and Safety. It then shows how visual management makes an organised area report its own status at a glance. You will leave able to audit your own area and name what to fix first.
What you'll learn
- ✓Define 6S as a system for organising work, not a housekeeping or tidiness exercise.
- ✓Run all six steps in order: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain, Safety.
- ✓Use the five-step red-tag process so nothing useful is lost and nothing useless kept.
- ✓Apply visual management so a newcomer reads normal from abnormal in about five seconds.
- ✓Spot the six ways 6S programmes fade, and score an area with a short audit.
