What the clause is really asking
ISO 22000 8.8.1 asks you to verify that PRPs are implemented and effective; FSSC makes the mechanism concrete for categories BIII, C, D, E, FI, G, I and K. You must establish routine site inspections or PRP checks — monthly is the example given — that verify the site inside and out, the production environment and the processing equipment are maintained in a suitable condition. Frequency and content must be risk-based, with defined sampling criteria, and linked to the relevant technical specification (your ISO 22002-x:2025 sector part).
What auditors look for
Auditors ask for the inspection schedule and the last few completed checks, then walk the same areas to see whether the findings match reality. They look for findings that were raised, actioned and closed, and for an inspection scope that maps to the PRP standard rather than a generic hygiene walk.

Build the inspection checklist from the clause headings of your sector PRP standard so nothing is skipped. Rotate who inspects, score consistently, and trend the results — a rising score for the same area month after month is the point of the exercise.
